Laser hair removal is a relatively new procedure that is performed using a special machine with a laser. Laser hair removal uses light waves that are well absorbed by melanin (hair pigment concentrated in the pits and follicles of hair), and such light is practically not absorbed by skin cells. When exposed to strong light, melanin absorbs energy, heats up and destroys the matrix cells that contain it. After a few weeks, the hair shaft with the dead root falls out. The laser destroys the hair follicle without further regeneration. After the procedure, the hair falls out completely within 10-14 days. The first results are visible immediately after the first treatment. For complete hair removal, the procedure must be repeated at least 2 weeks apart, depending on the area. The total number of procedures is from 5 to 10. After the course, new hair may not appear for two to ten years, depending on the individual characteristics of the body.
